Information on Art Deco design. Art Deco was at it’s best throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s. Geometric and bold designs took over from the flowing designs of the Art Nouveau era. The traditional cameo was less prominent although they were often inset into geometric mounts such as the malachite cigarette box below. Cameo glass took on a new lease of life with designers such as Lalique, Daum andd Schneider putting their own stamp on their designs. New materials were often used in designs such as Bakelite, chrome and aluminium. Below are some examples of Art Deco designs.

Schneider Art Deco Acid Etched and Wheel Engraved Cameo Glass Floriform Footed Vase Circa 1925-1930 Height 16 3/4 inches.
Appears to be in generally good condition; no apparent hairline cracks, chips, nicks, etc.; the interior appears to be generally clean, however, there may be some cloudiness; residue on underside of base left by felt pads, not of any consequence; loss to frosted finish along top under orange blossom; there appears to be approximately 3 areas with inadvertent wheel engraving located near the top ribbed areas, presumably as made by the factory; top side of foot engraved Schneider, underside signed FRANCE.

Ltd., London, 1933, with agate sides, banded with rose diamonds within black enamel borders, the lid applied with a marquess’s coronet in rose diamonds, 9.3 cm., 3 5/8 in.; a black and green enamelled gold example, probably American, circa 1925, inscribed: PAT. APLD. FOR, in a fabric pochette, stamped 14k and incuse maker’s mark, 7.5cm., 3 in.; and a black lacquer example, Strauss.
